Recovery month 2026 Katie K

Recovery grows where honesty begins.

When we face the truth, we make room for real change.

Recovery month 2026

“Well, I was first introduced to the recovery center in 2014 when the inside was still Art Deco in mint green, and I have been here almost every week for over 11 years. I remember the old space before the renovation. I like it better, but I’m just sentimental for the old space. When I first started coming here, it felt like a completely different time because it was before COVID and everything. There were just so many amazing old timers that have passed on since then. I can hear their voices and all of their quotes, especially the Thursday Night Young Peoples, circa 2014, 2015. I remember Miss Elliot and Don Norman. A lot changed since COVID, as far as fellowship, but I continue coming here and go to meetings about two times a week. I love it here. I love the people and I love attending the women’s meetings. One memory I have is when I sat behind Don Norman at a CMA LA convention. They do the show every year and that one year they did the show basically about his whole life. I was sitting like two rows behind him, but one seat over, so the whole time I could see his face when he was watching it. I was watching him like side view while watching the show, and it was one of the most impactful nights of my sobriety because most people don’t get honored until they’re no longer with us, right? That was awesome. It still gives me goosebumps.”
