Recovery is not only about how far we have come.
It is about choosing, each day, to keep becoming.
Recovery month 2026
“I love it here. I love that the first meeting I ever attended was in this space. I love that there’s meetings all the time, and that there are different meetings. I love the accessibility of it, and that I can always come here if I need anything related to AA. Here is where I find meetings and friends. It’s like a home. It’s like an AA home. I moved here December 2019, and the first meeting I attended was the Thursday night, Young Peoples meeting. I had been in LA for three weeks. Outside there was like 30 people smoking cigarettes. I was a bit nervous because I hadn’t gone to a meeting in Los Angeles, but I’m not a shy person. I just said kind of said hi to people even though I was totally brand new to the area, and I was met with some of the nicest people that I’ve ever met and still know to this day. I still keep in contact with some of them. Not only was this place home to the first meeting I ever attended, but it’s also the first space where I was secretary of a meeting. That was pretty cool for me. I like that it’s consistent. I have a routine where I come here every Wednesday. It no longer foreign. I love introducing people to this space because, obviously, you have the cabin across the street, and recovery center space so this to me feels like when I think of sobriety in LA. This space is very welcoming. This is what I associate with as my home base.”
