The past may shape us, but recovery gives us the freedom to choose what comes next.
Recovery month 2026
“The West Hollywood Recovery Center for me was where I exited living from the street to the life that I have today. It was the starting point. I slept out front of the Log Cabin while I was homeless for many months and went to four or five meetings a day. It provided safety. It provided all of the connection that I have in AA today, and it and it provided food, housing. I mean, everything came from the recovery center. It’s probably the most important place in my entire life. The people are fantastic. It’s the people that I know now. My first sponsor made me practice humility by raising my hand and asking for everything. The people at the West Hollywood Recovery Center provided everything I needed to stay alive. I stayed homeless for almost five months after I got sober, so I relied on the meetings to go for a place for a cup of coffee and fellowship, and then to raise my hand and ask for help. To day I have the life of my wildest dreams. I’ve got a humble apartment that I love. I’ve got a really great career working for myself. I’ve got a car and I’m sober 10 years.”
