“I’ve been coming to the recovery center for over 40 years–45 if you count me coming here before I got sober. Crazy is the best way to describe it when I first started coming to the recovery center. It was located on Santa Monica Blvd, above the Greenwich Village Pizza. I was 21 or 22, so it was crazy. I fit perfectly right in during what we used to call midnight madness. Of course, the space has changed and I have changed, so it suits me perfectly fine now. I remember after the most recent remodel of the building, we moved in and I was so excited that I artistically did all the 12-step banners for all the two rooms, but then COVID came and so many things changed. Now it looks like we have outgrown the space, and so I’m looking forward to the new space. The Recovery Center has been the center of my recovery and has always been there for me over 40 years. I live and work within walking distance, so it is my recovery home base.
