“The West Hollywood Recovery Center is a beacon of light, of safety, representation, support, love. I came to the Twelve at Ten meeting, which is now the Ask It Basket meeting on Tuesday nights at 10 o’clock. It was nice to be able to see people walk by that were going out to the clubs for the night, but I was in the safety of the recovery center with other sober people. It was great. It also inspired me to see people that were in the room that night that needed their sobriety fix before they had a late dinner or went out dancing. That gave me hope that maybe someday I too could be armed with those tools. I think that over the years, the thought of making this a more comfortable, safer place for those that are unsure of their sobriety, to let them know that they can walk through these doors and know they are going to be taken care of–that part gives me the kind of pride that only elevates my own homosexual sobriety.”
